Flight performance and planning

Also try to construct a flight yourself, where you make calculations and retrieve

                information about weather, etc.

                7.9.3 Radio navigation aids

When we fly, we use various radio navigation aids to navigate.

These aids emit radio waves that the aircraft can receive and analyze to

determine their course, distance and position in relation to specific points on the

                ground.

There are several types of radio navigation aids, all of which have different

                functions and areas of application.

We will discuss the ones we use in our small aircraft below.

                7.9.3.1 Locator / ADF

On the Billund – Aarhus route section, you can use a Locator, which is located at

                Aarhus Airport.

We can use TL with a frequency of 384 kHz.

However, this requires that we have an ADF

                in the aircraft.

For the theory test, you may encounter questions about ADF and how to use it.

                7.9.3.2 VOR

You may encounter questions about VOR in the test, even though we only have

a few VORs left in Denmark, so here is a brief overview.

VOR is an abbreviation for VHF Omnidirectional Radio Range.
