9.11.2.3 Radio call and taxi to take-off

Even if radio contact is not required at the position, you are currently holding, it

is still a good idea to inform other traffic on the position of what you intend to

do. You call the control unit for permission to taxi to the runway – alternatively

inform that you are taxiing to the runway if you are on an uncontrolled airfield
with AFIS service or Radio service.

When permission has been given, you taxi to the runway. Along the way, you

check the aircraft’s brakes and gyro instruments.

At the stop line (taxi-holding point), you perform an engine test into the wind,

after which you call for permission to taxi to the runway – alternatively inform

that you are taxiing to the runway (at a radio or AFIS airfield).

When you have received permission to taxi to a runway in use, you carefully

check whether there are landing craft approaching before taxiing to the runway.

On the runway, you check that the gyro compass is showing the correct
                direction.

Then release the brake and take off at full throttle. Just before reaching your

cruising altitude, level out and slowly release the throttle until the desired RPM

                is reached.

When you are in the air, it is about maintaining altitude and heading.
