- If a recipient wants an entire message repeated, this must be indicated

by the expression “SAY AGAIN”.

- If parts of a message are desired to be repeated, say “SAY AGAIN ALL

BEFORE…” or “SAY AGAIN ALL AFTER…” or “SAY AGAIN ALL

BETWEEN…” respectively.

- If something specific is desired to be repeated, say e.g. “SAY AGAIN

RUNWAY IN USE”.

- If the sender of a message that is read back notices errors or

misunderstandings, the response “NEGATIVE, I SAY AGAIN” must be

given, after which the correct version must be repeated.

4.8.1.3 Read back

All safety-related parts of clearances and air traffic control instructions must be

repeated by the recipient.

The following must always be repeated:

- En-route clearances

- Clearances and air traffic control instructions to approach a runway, land

on a runway, take off on a runway, hold before a runway, cross a runway

or backtrack a runway, whether the runway is "runway in use" or not.

- Information on runway in use, altimeter setting, SSR codes, altitude

instructions, heading and speed instructions and, for arriving IFR flights,

whether provided by air traffic services or contained in an ATIS
broadcast, review level.

Other clearances or air traffic control instructions, including conditional
clearances, must be repeated by the recipient or confirmed in a manner that

clearly indicates that the clearance and air traffic control instruction is

understood and will be followed.
