4.11.2 Observation of radio faults and accompanying procedures

4.11.2.1 How to observe radio failure

                   1. You do not get a response to your transmissions, but can listen to ATIS and

                      other traffic

                   or

                   2. You cannot hear anything on your radio

In the first example, there is a fault in the transmitter part of your radio. If

Billund Approach does not respond, check with Billund Tower.

When you have pressed the microphone plug in properly!

In the second example, you must assume that the transmitter part of your radio

                 is fine.

4.11.2.2 Your procedures and phraseology in case of radio faults

You have determined that your transmitter is OK, but you are not getting a

                 response.

In the hope that it is the other people's equipment that is faulty, you continue

                 to make messages.

You begin these with the phrase:

                   - "Transmitting Blind "

and make the messages you would otherwise make.

You have determined that there is a fault in your receiver.

                 You begin with the phrase:

                   - "Transmitting blind due to receiver failure "

and make the messages you would otherwise make.

The message must contain information about what the pilot intends to do and

the time of the next call.
