SHARING OUR UNIQUE EXPERIENCES

that rst-day-of-school jittery feeling. As the school year crept along, I was approached by one particular student asking me to sponsor an of cial Cascia Hall dance team. I shouldn’t have been too surprised, as I took dance lessons growing up and had already expressed interest in getting something started.
After what seemed like months of slow planning and feet dragging on my end, I nally had enough interest that we were able to get the dance team started. The great thing about the team this year is that we were able to do it without having a try out. There are several girls on the team that have had very little dance experience. On the other hand, there are also some girls who are heavily involved in Tulsa’s dance scene, from teaching classes themselves to
dancing in Tulsa Ballet’s

Over the summer, they were all required to participate in a team camp. This was a great time for them to learn basic dance technique for those that were new, or to ne tune some existing skills for those who had the basics down.
Since the summer, the girls have managed to continue weekly practices and have even performed together. The rst dance the team learned was a jazz routine, and they are currently working on a contemporary routine. Our plans for this semester are to get in several more performances, and maybe even attend a dance convention or two. Keep your eyes open for upcoming performances and come out to support our newly formed Cascia Hall dance team!
