Journey of IHM Lucknow

It was the year of 1991, when Mr. Raj Kumar Saxena took charge as principal of IHM
Lucknow. Under his able guidance and utmost professionalism for more than a decade
(1991 - 2004) Institute had exponentially transformed into a high repute of excellence
in the field of Hospitality education. Mr. Saxena added many feathers to the success
stories of IHM Lucknow. It was the time of innovation, creativity and excellence. In the

year 2002 another great achievement came in the form of upgradation of 3year
Diploma program into 3 year B.Sc. Degree course.

Mr. Arun Kumar Singh (Alumni of IHM Lucknow) joined as Principal, IHM Lucknow
in year 2004. Mr. Singh had taken IHM to another level by expanding the infrastructural
capacity and emphasizing on quality teaching of the institute. His efforts contributed in
making IHM Lucknow one of the biggest hospitality Institutes in India. His vision was
farsighted in terms of understanding the future needs of the qualified hospitality
professionals in India. In the year 2006, IHM Lucknow pioneered another milestone in
hospitality education by grabbing an opportunity among four institutes in India to
introduce Masters Degree program. Apart from regular Post Graduation courses Mr.
Singh also initiated various Skill oriented programs as Diploma (Food Production, Food
& Beverage) to cater students with specific needs. He had also successfully operationalized Government
sponsored programs like Hunar se Rozgar tak (Food production and Food and beverage) and Skill Certification
program on a large scale. In the year 2014 Mr. Singh joined IHM Mumbai as principal and handed over the
charge to Mr. Pulak Mandal as Acting Principal. Mr. Mandal gracefully took great care of all the administrative
and operational responsibilities for a year.
