Hospice
In 2016 I organized a project uniting the volunteers of KFC
Kazakhstan. Since then, we have been actively dealing with de-
veloping this activity. We often provide monetary aid and fulfill
requests, helping people. One day, it was end of fall in 2018, we
heard about the hospice for children with cancer. We went there
hoping to provide some help. It hurt so much; no words to de-
scribe what we saw there…
But the kids were treated there with great care. We talked to
the kids and their moms, as well as to the founder of the hospice.
In order to somehow support the kids and raise their spirit we
took with us their letters with the their wishes for the coming
New Year. As any kids, they were asking for toys, trampoline and
other things. I will never forget one girl’s letter who was asking
for two ball dresses: one for herself and the other for her sister,
writing frankly “so that we do not have a fight”. We distributed
the letters among our colleagues from KFC. And I am so grateful
to my peers all over Kazakhstan that they fulfilled ALL the kids’
wishes.
On the New Year’s Eve, we delivered the gifts to the kids, all
of them were happy and pleased to get their wishes come true.
Later on, we learnt that for many of them that year became the
last one. But the idea that we have fulfilled at least one of their
wishes makes me cry.
A volunteer’s mission is not at all easy. Visiting the places
where little children are fighting for life, you understand that
every little kid there is a hundred times more courageous and
stronger than you. I am glad that we will be remembered as kind
people and that with our actions we have been changing how
other people perceive this world, to the better.
