A Bowl of Soup
4 years ago, together with my friends we created a team
of about 20 persons and started developing a charity project
named “A Bowl of Soup” in Ekaterinburg. We are caring about
homeless people. Every Friday we make hot meals and distribute
them, as well as clothes and medicaments. Think for a moment:
when you feel hungry, it is difficult to focus on solving the current
problems, and imagine a person who feels hungry all the time.
We had imagined that and decided that we would help with the
meals, because food is something that all people need. Home-
less, as well as senior people in need, come to us to get some
food, medicaments and clothes (some of them coming from the
other city districts).
The project has been surviving due to the charity donations,
and I have been constantly caring about its stability and develop-
ment, attracting attention to the importance of what we are do-
ing and searching volunteers. I speak about it at different events,
manage a VK page publishing detailed reports. This year we have
started cooperating with one of the city social services: we have
got a few additional sites distributing free lunches. Now we will
provide food for more than 500 people per month and more than
6000 people per year!
In summer 2018 I found myself among other 3 final competi-
tors nominated for the prize in “volunteering” at the KFC Battle
International Festival and I won a grant for the project develop-
ment. This cost myself and my team great efforts, because more
than 300 applications had been submitted for the contest. We
presented our project in front of the committee, courageously
protected its importance and thanks to our trust in ourselves and
in our deed, we have succeeded. We bought some household
equipment, dishes and ware for transporting the food. Our entire
team is grateful for this unique opportunity. We got inspired with
the support and we will continue experiencing trust in ourselves
and our deed, helping those in need and engaging other people
into our activities.
