An Inspiring Example
The visits of the KFC volunteers’ team to the Senior People’s
Home in Kolomna have become one of the most vivid volunteer
events in my life. During our first visit we got acquainted with the
senior gentlemen and ladies, residing there, in the course of the
common creative activities – intuition gouache painting.
Every time we came, we were feeling how happy the residents
were to see us. They were willingly sharing with us their favorite
recipes and the touching stories of their youth, showing us beau-
tiful flowers that they had grown in their garden, demonstrating
how they knit warm scarves and play musical instruments.
I cannot but mention the story of one lady named Elena Lvov-
na who has left a deep trail in our hearts. Recently Elena Lvovna
has survived a heart attack and a severe pneumonia, hence her
communication skills suffered, she finds it difficult to talk and to
write. Despite all that, she has been heroically coping with her
disease: knitting, meditating, studying books on psychology and
solving the puzzles.
Elena Lvovna has shared with all of us one excellent advice,
“Always hold on and never give up!” Her constant drive for self-
development is causing our admiration and inspiring our team
for actions!
