promoted along with my students and wanted
to do something special. I told him how the
students had already seen me breaking large
stacks of concrete on fire, 250 lbs of ice, wood,
glass, etc. He told me to go and get an egg.
He showed me the correct form and told me
he use to break boards this way. After a little
practice, I was able to hit my hand pretty hard
and decided to go for it. The next morning,
less than twelve hours from learning it. I tried it
out on the bricks. If I succeeded, the students
and parents would get a cool show, and if I
failed, at least they would know that Sensei is
at least trying to push his limits. I think I was
just as surprised as they were when it worked
             on 9 bricks!”

MSM: “How many did you do for the Record?”

KB: “The previous record was 24, so I wanted
to double it. I was able to do 50 on my first at-
tempt. The video is on my Facebook if anyone
wants to see it. Just send me a friend request.
I was so excited to have done it, the camera
zoomed in and I broke the egg in victory. Seve-
ral months later, Guinness World Records in-
formed me that my attempt had been denied.
In my excitement, I did not have any witnes-
ses inspect the egg for cracks before I broke
it. Guinness World Records are very strict and
their standards are very high. It really is di-
fficult to get one. They encouraged me to try
again so I did. The next time I did 28, but it was
still enough to break the previous record.”

MSM: “So someone else has done this before?”

KB: “Well, Yes and No. There was a record for
most bricks broken with a raw egg. After I got
the record, one of my students bought the har-
dback book edition, thinking I would be in it.
The books had already gone to press by the
time I broke the record. There was a picture of
the previous record holder and I was surprised
by the way he did it. He held the egg in his many by hand. You can see it in the 2015 book.
hand, but he broke the bricks with his elbow. Hopefully you’ll see me in the 2016 book! They
I am the only person to have ever broken so usually come out around Christmas time.”
