Growth, Value, and Blend/Core
Investing
I usually recommend that retirees use professionally-managed
funds or index funds when investing in stocks. Investing in
individual stocks can be difficult, and riskier than investing in a
portfolio with a large number of equities. These options include,
but are not limited to:
► Mutual funds
► Index funds
► Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs)
► Fee-based, professionally-managed accounts
I’ll discuss the reason I recommend the use of these types of
funds later in the book, but let’s look at the different “styles” of
investing, and discuss the features of each.
