Sequential Batch Reactors (SBR)
Duel SBR Operation
In an example, influent flow enters SBR Tank A until Tank A is filled and treating.
After Tank A is filled and beginning the batch processing, the influent flow is
routed to Tank B until filled to begin its batched treatment cycle. In other words,
when one tank is treating, the other tank is filling in preparation for treating.
In this example design, Tanks A and B are online. Tank C is offline and available for
high flow events, or seasonally.
The Flow Equalization Tank is used to retain excess flow that the online SBR’s
could not treat. The Flow Equalization Tank would fill and be monitored by the
Operator and drained during low flow periods, typically at night.
