Resident focussed Informed Design HD
What is it?
Whilst largely self-explanatory, it’s worthy of an explanation as this is the Barometer for what we do;
“Resident Focused - because everything we do is to benefit residents and should never be to their cost.”
It's obvious that a better designed environment, driven by a commitment to addressing challenges of dementia,
will result in an altogether better place to live. We also take into account the demands on the people who
work to support the residents, so design that makes their job less challenging and more fruitful, yet further
benefits residents.
Of course, we must consider the health of the business too! Amongst other things, good design enables the home to
deliver better standards of care, making it a more attractive place for new residents and contributing to increased
occupancy and therefore revenue. This provides resources to invest in skills that help achieve higher standards
of care, once again resulting in a better experience for staff and residents.
Informed - has two meanings. Firstly, the people who deliver the services of The Care Home Designer all have an interest
in better outcomes for dementia care and are informed about the condition and what it means.
Secondly, the process we follow for every new project requires that we are thoroughly informed about the people,
the property and the location in which we're working. This involves spending time with staff, residents, managers,
owners and visitors where possible, to learn about the ambitions and opportunities for meaningful improvements.
Without this commitment to doing our “homework” we'll be rolling out a one-size-fits-all solution which will never be as
effective as a truly tailored, informed, design strategy.
Design - with experienced product and interior designers, technicians, and manufacturers, we can deliver great results
that benefit all stake holders, and most importantly of course, the residents.
