pants and he would make a comment about it and tell you that a true leader does something different to stand out. In his words “leaders do things differently.” He was right. You are a leader in the classroom and on the field. A lot of people including myself look up to you as a role model and as a person to go to for any sort of advice. That being said, you have done an incredible job as drum major. You conducting Mars was something special to be a part of. One of my favorite things was when you call set, and your voice cracked over the loudspeaker. Again, thank you for the impact you have made on me in the UDMB and hope to keep in touch in the future.
To Keith Blake:
You did an awesome job in your first year as Drum Major. You are an excellent leader and have taken this band to new levels. You are now the only Drum Major left after this season, embrace it and continue lead by example. Your dedication to the UDMB is admirable and will show others what an honor it is to be in this band You are destined to do great things for this band and in life. Also, let’s be real, we both know for a fact Long Island Bagels are the superior bagels.
To Steven Gelberg:
I remember just seeing your face at the end of Lost in Space Postgame of Senior Game. You tried so hard not to break into tears while conducting. Thank you for all the incredible things you have done for this organization. I wish you the best of luck as a future Music Educator.
To Josh Pompeo:
Thank you for keeping Ass Slap Saturday alive. We need to catch up at some point. Lavery is lucky to have a little like yourself. In the spring, let’s play Spikeball on the Amy Green. We did that last year and want to bring it back. Keep in touch and keep getting those gains at the gym.
To Xi Mu:
If wasn’t for Marching Band, I wouldn’t have known what PMA was. I came into college not knowing much about what I wanted to do, and a group of guys took me in as one of their own. Thank you guys for being there for me when I needed it.
To UDMB Seniors:
From “Mad World”, to “One”, to “Peace of Mind”, to “To Boldly Go”, every year was something special. It was fitting to end our time in the UDMB the same place we started it, on top of the CFA Parking Garage. While we experienced a Dust Storm on Senior game our Freshman year, this year’s Senior game was cold but at least the playing conditions were a bit more bearable. It has been one hell of a ride the last four seasons. I wish you all the best of luck in your future endeavors. In my life, I’ve loved them all.
To Sarv:
I don’t know if you remember but I didn’t show up to Band Camp my sophomore year due to a summer camp I couldn’t leave early for. I didn’t know what to do and thought I wouldn’t be able to band that year. Thankfully, there was an Alto hole that needed to be filled and the Alto Staff at the time vouched for me. They wanted me back and told me that they talked to you about this decision and you approved of it. Thank you for all you do for this program. It obviously wouldn’t operate the way it does without your leadership. You have put the UDMB on the map as one of the premier Marching Bands in the Northeast. Congrats on 25 years with Jim once again. I couldn’t imagine
