P. 80

This band has brought me so much more than I ever expected from it. I came in as a burnt out little freshman, not even really sure if marching band was something I wanted to do anymore. My high school band director/band environment had completely sucked the fun out of marching band for me. As soon as I stepped out of the car, greeted by the sea of student staff screaming at me waving signs like maniacs, I had a gut feeling, that I made the right choice. Everything about that year was magical. From reconnecting with one of my middle school best friends as my staff buddies (LOVE YOU SAM) to meeting some lifelong friends, who will get shout outs later in this trainwreck of a will (I’m looking at you, Sofia and Airy). This organization will always have a huge place in my heart, and I am so thankful for the lessons its taught me, the friends its brought me, and the unforgettable memories that I’ll cherish forever. From Mad World and dabbing in Holiday, to One and Hip- popping in God Bless the Child, Peace of Mind and doing that crazy fortnite dance in Peace of Mind, and finally, in To Boldy Go, spelling out YMCA and HENS in Baba O’Riley. This has been one hell of a ride, and I’m so glad it was with the UDMB. Eyes, with pride. Heart. Soul. Sound...Sandwich.
Sam:
SAM!!! Thank you so much for sharing your love for the UDMB with me and showing me how amazing this organization is. I’ll still say there was no rookie buddy bond better than the one you, me and Haley had. Thank you for being a great mentor and guide through all of this!!
Derek:
Thank you for opening your heart to me freshman year and I am so happy I still get to call you one of my greatest friends to this day. Whether it was PMA, post poop band nachos with Jill, or going to Charleston, you’ve played such an integral role in my college experience, and I wouldn’t want it any other way. LOVE YOU DAD
Sofia:
Hehehehehe. Thank you for being a great friend. From helping me paint my PMA letters at the end of freshman year, to our chipotle dates <3, to beach trips in the summer. Thank you for letting me just waltz into your apartment like I live there too, and thanks for always being there for me when I need it. I am so happy band helped us meet freshman year, and I hope there are many more chipotle dates in our futureJ
Airy ARI:
Where do I even begin...we’ve literally been through everything together. We’ve even spent so much time together that people either think were attached at the hip or were DATING :o. You’ve been the greatest friend to me and I know you’re going to be the greatest nurse. From our sleep overs to or “study dates” (aka sit and rewatch Greys Anatomy). Thank you for always being someone I can count on to be there for me and always being willing to listen to my problems, bc lord knows I have a lot of them. Remember that one time I offered you $400 to do an assignment for me the night before it was due?? Hahah. Thanks for saying no, and making me do my own work. You help push me to be the best student, friend, and all around person that I can be. Hopefully our future endeavors don’t put us too far apart...but I know whatever distance it may be, I’ll take any road trip to see you, pal. Love you forever <3
