Photographer Hire experience and do not allow someone in the family to take your photos,
family members are meant to be guests they should not be employees on
your wedding day. The photographer is capturing your entire day; this is what
you will have to show your family, friends, and children in the future. There are
no re-do’s! Also keep in mind, besides your new spouse, you spend the most
time on your wedding day with your photographer so make sure you like them
and you feel comfortable around them. Do not sacrifice QUALITY for PRICE
Room Blocks Courtesy room blocks are held at a discounted rate for your guests without
any financial burden on you. A guaranteed room block holds you financially
responsible for the rooms you hold at a discounted rate for guests. You are
contracted to pay for them whether they are used or sit empty. Most places
will do a courtesy block - guarantee blocks may give your guests a better
rate.
Save the Dates You can mail as early as 1 + years out, the sooner the better when you have
guests coming from out of town. Save the Dates do not have to match your
wedding invites - be creative and have fun when putting these together!
Stationery There are many online sites that will send free samples so you can see the
quality prior to ordering. Custom or semi-custom invitations ordered through
your local paper company can be just as cost efficient as any online services;
they are also able to personalize your look and style.
Transportation If providing transportation (town cars, limousines, coach or shuttle buses) for
guests/bridal party make sure to build in travel time to and from hotel to venue
along with a wait time of 5-7 min in each direction. This gives guests time to
load and unload.
Vendor Selection The least expensive option is not always better! With all vendors hire
experience; figure out how to cut budget costs with décor items rather than
with those that will be interacting with you and your guests
Wedding Date Saturday evenings are the most expensive days to host a wedding during
prime wedding season. Consider Thursday, Friday or Sunday evenings or
even a day time wedding. Off season pricing is offered almost everywhere;
check it out if you are flexible with date and time of year.
Wedding End Time BE REALISTIC! You want to end your wedding on a high note with the majority
of your guests still there and dancing, begging the DJ to play one more song.
What you don’t want is the last 12-15 guests lingering around half passed out,
not on the dance floor with the service staff practically having the room
cleaned and ready to go home. Realistic end time is between 10p and 11p.
