across from Bellagio). After checking into your accommodations, enjoy the balance of your day
at leisure. The kids no doubt will want to check out the hotel’s pool, which is situated on the
lake’s surface, giving one the illusion of floating on top of the lake. Let us know if you would
like to visit the T Spa; we do recommend advance bookings.
Proposed Accommodations for 3 Nights: Grand Hotel Tremezzo, a five-star gem located on
the shores of Lake Como across the lake from magical Bellagio
Day 6: At Leisure. Today is all about leisure. Cruise the lake by ferry or your hotel concierge
can arrange private transfers or private water taxis. Consider some of
the following options for the day:
• Visit the leading villages of Lake Como: If you didn’t do
so previously, we suggest you visit the charming village of
Bellagio, which is particularly enchanting when viewed from
the water. In the village of Varenna, you can visit the villa
and the relaxing gardens of Villa Cipressi and the remains of
an ancient castle. Bellano, just north of Verenna, is less
popular with tourists than Bellagio and Varenna and certainly
attractive in its own right.
• Villa Carlotta (located next to GH Tremezzo): One of the
most impressive Lake Como villas open to visitors is Villa Carlotta, which was built in
1690 by the Marquis Giorgio Clerici and took on its current name a century later when, in
1848, the Prussian Princess Carlotta received it as a
wedding gift on her marriage to the Duke of Saxony-
Meiningen. The star attraction here is the magnificent
gardens and rare plants.
• Brunate: From Como, take the funicular to the quaint
village of Brunate, located 2350 feet above sea level.
From the village, enjoy the impressive views of the lake
and the Alps.
