Day 5 – Wednesday, July 19: A Memorable Day in Chianti. This morning, taxi 10-15 min to
Rome Termini or Tiburtina station followed
by first-class train service 1 hr 20 min to
Florence. Upon arrival to Santa Maria
Novella railway station, meet Lello, or
another of our Tuscany-based drivers. Travel
approximately 45 min through the Chianti
countryside to Corzano e Paterno, a family-
run Tuscan farm that produces cheese, olive
oil and great wine. The farm stretches out
over two hills covered with vineyards, olive
trees and woodlands. The cheese made here has
been featured by famous celebrity chefs Nigella
Lawson, Jamie Oliver and Rocco de Spirito and is
served in the best restaurants in Florence. You
will be led on a tour of the vineyards, cellars and
dairy farm where you will learn about the
production processes. Enjoy lunch outdoors that
includes a selection of wine, cheese and olive oil
from the farm, along with cured meats and
seasonal vegetables.
After lunch, time permitting, your driver might lead you on a highly-scenic and relaxing drive
through the Chianti countryside. In the market town of Greve, located in the heart of Chianti,
you can browse the shops on Piazza del Mercato and visit Falorni, the famous butchery. There
are some nice wine shops, too, that might catch your attention. Perhaps you will wish to make a
stop at Enoteca Falorni, the largest enoteca in Tuscany offering more than 1,000 wines with
some 100 available to taste (tastings not included). This is most definitely a super-sized enoteca.
You might also visit the impossibly-beautiful stone village of Montefioralle, located in the hills
above Greve. Amazing scenery awaits!
Proposed Accommodations for 2 Nights: Villa Bordoni, a deluxe boutique where modern
meets antique in the gray-green hills above the wine town of Greve-in-Chianti. While located in
a stunning, countryside, the small town of Greve is just 10 min by taxi. The on-property
restaurant is excellent.
Day 6 - Thursday, July 20: Siena and the Tuscan Countryside on Two Wheels. Today will
be filled with beautiful scenery, a leisurely bike ride through the Italian countryside and several
hours in Siena (which many visitors prefer to Florence). This day can be customized according
to your preferences and biking skill level.
