Day 12: Excursion to Cordoba. Today’s agenda includes an excursion to Cordoba, third jewel
of ancient Andalusia and former capital of the Moorish province of El Andalus. First-class rail
service 45 min from Sevilla to Cordoba via
the high-speed AVE (a great way to travel!)
is included. Imma, our lead Cordoba guide,
or one of her colleagues will meet you to
commence your private tour. The focus will
be the 10th-century Great Mosque, or
Mezquita, the emblem of Cordoba’s position
as one of Europe’s greatest capitals of that
era. You will learn of the history and
architectural significance of the structure and
how the Christians incorporated their

cathedral within the mosque in the 16
century. In addition to the mosque, you will visit the Jewish quarter, where you can enjoy lunch
on your own at one of Cordoba’s traditional restaurants (cost of lunch not included). Like
Seville, Cordoba is rich in Jewish history. Return to Seville late afternoon by the AVE. Balance
of the day at leisure.

might be in order as well.
