A multi-strategy approach

A multi-strategy approach to instruction is based on the concept that

good readers use multiple cues to identify words (Strickland, 2005).

In this approach, children are taught to use all available clues,

including how the word is used in the sentence (syntactic cues),

what makes sense (semantic cues), and how the word looks (graphic

                    cues), to identify a word.
