Hydrangea Salad
By Momoko S.
Once upon a time, a 15-year-old orphan girl, Emily lived in a small house
in the forest alone. She had never gone to school so had no friend, except
Spencer.
Spencer was a 19-year-old boy and dressmaker. He often derived clothes
for Emily. He was the only friend of Emily and his kindness made her smile.
They loved each other and every time Spencer visited Emily, they spent their
time together to their heart’s contents.
It was in the middle of the rainy season. Emily’s birthday had come and
Spencer made an apron for her. She was delighted and said “Thank you. I’ll
make dinner for you by wearing this apron. Please come again at 6:00!” After
Spencer went back home, Emily started cooking. This is the beginning of the
tragedy…
Hydrangea in Emily’s garden grew thick, so she put hydrangea in a
salad for dinner -regardless of its strong poison-. Ironically, she didn’t know
hydrangea has poison because she had No educational background. She was
innocent!
At 6:00, Spencer visited Emily. “The dinner is waiting for you,” Emily said
that and led him to the table. Then, she served the salad-full of hydrangea
with poison-. “Enjoy the meal,” Emily said. Spencer noticed that the hydrangea
with strong poison was in the salad at a glance. Spencer wavered between the
two choices, rejecting or eating dinner. Spencer knew nobody gave education
to Emily and she was ignorant. This was the first time for lonely Emily to make
dinner for someone…
Spencer decided to accept her love, then, he ate hydrangea salad.
“Spencer, how about the taste of salad?” “Spencer? No, Spencer!!” Spencer was
killed by the deadly poison of hydrangea, Emily’s innocent. Emily turned out to
be alone again. The rainy season will come soon this year. [299 words]
