                                                        Kassi

                                                     By Deer K*

In 2090, a revolutionary system to bring up humans in a perfect state,
called “Kassi,” was invented in the U.S. People can grow in a perfect state by

following AI’s instructions. Kassi makes a perfect method individually, like how

much nutrition a person should take on the 700th day after birth. Sleep time is
also fixed in seconds every day.
I was born in the U.S. in 2092, so I could be brought up by Kassi, but my

parents did not adopt Kassi for me. I sometimes asked my parents, “Why didn’t

you adopt Kassi for me?”, but they always said, “You can’t be happy with Kassi.”
Now, I’m 25 years old, and work as a cleaner of a baseball stadium. Even now, I

think I might be a star player like Alexander Rodriguez if I would have been
brought up by Kassi. I can’t accept the parents’ decision.

One day, I talked with Tom as usual. Tom is one of the baseball players
in the team which I belong to as a cleaner. But he is strange today. He makes

complaints to me. It really pisses me o , it may be because I’ve been jealous of
him using Kassi. I shout, “What an unnecessary worry! Even though you have

been using Kassi!” He shut up.
Then, he yells, “Kassi cannot produce a perfect human from nothing. It

merely unleashes one’s potential. So I can't beat the talented,
high-potentialed guy after all! It has created a world where it’s all about how

much talent is given!” and additionally, “I can’t understand what I follow kassi
            for.”

I have understood for the first time that people who struggle are not
only people who do not use kassi, but also people using Kassi. Humans persist

in perfection so much that we have lost an important thing, “being a human.”
