XVII. Pneumococcal Conjugate Vaccine
A. Pneumococcal conjugate vaccine is used for the prevention of
invasive pneumococcal disease in infants and children.
B. Pneumococcal polysaccharide vaccine is used for adults and high-
risk children older than 2 years.
C. Side and adverse effects may include erythema, swelling, pain,
and tenderness at the injection site; fever; irritability; drowsiness;
and reduced appetite.
