VALUES : A strong set of values underlies the culture
HEROES : Exploits of corporate heroes exemplify the
culture
RITE & Rites and rituals reinforce cultural norms
RITUALS
COMMUNICATION : Culture is communicated by stories, sagas and
myths
Applying this case leads to the following observations.
Sir Reo clearly believes in family values. He is proud of
the number of people the company employs. Andros is
more of a young man in a hurry. He wants the business
to grow quickly. He wants to change the shared values of
the company to correspond to his vision.
Of the two contrasting management teams it is evident
that Sir Lewis and David Michels come closer to matching
the values identified above. They can more readily be
presented as corporate heroes.
The style of management of the new team has been very
successful thus far. This team is now expected to take
Stakis into the next century. A proactive approach will be
needed. The management of change will be a continuing
requirement of the business.
