‘TANTRA’


                                             Theme: ‘Jago Grahak Jago’

              This year, Sindhi school situated at Hebbal organised a competition named ‘TANTRA’, to
              present advertisements. The students from grades 6 and 7 participated in this competition.
              The  presentation  included  advertisements  of  Jewellery  and  medicine  shop  depicting
              consumer  awareness  regarding  buying  of
              products.   The     Jewellery    advertisement
              conveyed the message that no jewellery should
              be  purchased  without  checking  for  the
              presence    of   the   required    authenticity.
              Similarly,   the    medicine     advertisement
              conveyed the message that no medicine should
              be used without checking for the expiry date.

              Out  of the  12  schools who  participated, Delhi
              Public  School,  Bangalore  North  secured  the        Tantra Advt at Sindhi School
              first prize.
                                               SPICMACAY



              Every year, SPIC MACAY, the Society for Promotion
              of  Indian  Classical  Music  And  Culture  Amongst
              Youth    holds  a  programme  on  the  campus  of  Delhi
              Public  School,  Bangalore  (North).  This  year,  the
              campus came alive with the rendition of Shehnai by
              two  very  famous  artist  brothers,  Shri.  Sanjeev
              Shankar  and  Shri.  Ashwani  Shankar,  sons  of  the
              famous  Shehnai  player,  Pt.  Daya  Shankar  and
              grandsons  of  the  legendary  Shehnai  player,  Pt.  Anant
              Lal Ustad Nisar Ahmedji accompanied them on tabla.
              The  concert  began  with  a  lamp-lighting  ceremony
              and  the  artists  were  welcomed  by  presenting  them
              with  saplings.  The  concert  was  attended  by  Mr.
              Ataullah  Khan,  Academic  Advisor,  DPS  Bangalore,
              the  Principal,  Mrs.  Manju  Balasubramanyam  and
              the Vice-Principal, Mrs. Geetha Kandaraji.                 Shehnai Recital

              Mr.  Sanjeev  gave  a  brief  introduction  to  the
              instrument ‘Shehnai’ which is known as the ‘King of
              Flutes or Wind Instruments.’ He also spoke about an
              afternoon  raga  called,  ‘Shudhdha  Saranga’,  and
              urged  the  audience  to  sing  the  ‘Arohana-Avrohana’
              swaras  after  them.  The  brother  duo  then
              mesmerised     the   audience    with    a   beautiful
              performance  on  this  raga.  The  brothers  ended  the
              concert  with  the  wonderful  raga  ‘Bhairavi’.  They
              played the song ‘Aaya karo’ which took the audience
              to the realm of enjoyment and bliss.
