The Durand Ecumenical Council will again be setting up two "Giving Trees" this
year. The first is at the Durand State Bank and the second at Bryden Ford. In case
you are new to the area, the "Giving Trees are set up on December 1st. On the tree
at the bank will be tags. You are to take a tag, and purchase a gift for the person in-
dicated by your tag. It will indicate the child's name, age, gender, and possibly a sug-
gestion. But the ultimate gift is up to you. It should be wrapped and the tag you took
off the tree taped to the top of the package. Then return to the bank and place it un-
der the tree.
On the second tree at Bryden you are asked to put mittens,
gloves, hats and scarves. Do not wrap these items. The la-
dies in charge will then distribute them according to size and
need.
All gifts are to be under or on the trees by Saturday, December
15th. Distribution will be on Tuesday December 18th. Please
don't miss that 12/15 date, the children will be counting on
you. And the gals in charge need time to organize and make
sure every child gets a gift. In anticipation of your kindness
the Ecumenical Council members say "Thanks and God bless you".
Durand Ecumenical Council’s Live Nativity
Take 45 minutes to an hour on Friday, December 7th to renew in your mind and
heart "the reason for the season". On that day the Durand Ecumenical Council will
be re-enacting the birth of the Christ child. This is the 4th year that the Council has
brought the Live Nativity to Center Street in Durand. This year the date and time are
December 7th at 6:00pm in the vacant lot next to the Closet. We will have bleachers
for your use. Once again live animals will be a part of the performance. We are al-
ways looking for volunteers to take part in the tableau. There are no speaking parts
and you don't have to be a trained actor, we just need you to be willing to wear a
costume and be part of the scene in Bethlehem. We need the main characters
along with angels, shephards and kings. Anyone wishing to perform should be at the
Methodist Church about 5:30. For more information call Sue Cocoma 248-2821 or
Kathy Moran 248-8065.
