The CRS/GDS industry is complex and involves
shareholding amongst different CRSs as well as marketing
or technical co-operation. They provide the following main
functions:
a- Maintenance of/and search facilities for flight
schedules and availability.
b- Information about other travel and tourism products
and their availability such as package holidays, car
hire, etc.
c- Reservation.
d- Ticketing.
e- Maintenance of user information, based on PNR.
Each passenger has a PNR, which is issued as a
unique key element for identification.
f- Maintenance of and search facilities for fare quotes
and rules.
