Prez Sez:
We are less than a month away from our 2018 Reunion in Albuquerque, NM. This
is our culminating event every other year. Hard to believe it's been two years since
we gathered in Las Vegas. Hopefully you are among those that made your
reservation for the reunion, for the hotel, and hopefully you've already locked in your
travel arrangements as airfares to Albuquerque have been on the pricey side.
This reporter will finish the formal pre-Reunion planning in terms of information
you'll see before we meet in Albuquerque. I want to thank Bruce and Lucy Prater,
and Harold and Pat Missimer, as well as our RAFINO Board of Officers for all the
planning to this point. To those of you who have served on such a planning committee, you know all the
logistics, coordination, and resolution of previous lessons learned required to make everyone feel
welcome and showcase the sights and sounds of the reunion location. This reunion takes advantage of
the International Balloon Festival. What a spectacle that will be, especially if you've never witnessed that
many hot air balloons !!!
We locked our reservations, and the numbers say we'll have 80 RAFINO Members present, and a total
of 159 people, which includes 33 first-time attendees. We love seeing everyone that's able to attend our
reunions, and for the long-term health of RAFINO, we love adding new members and seeing first-time
attendees
Your board of officers worked hard these past two years with the following goals in mind: to
communicate more with our membership; to grow new members; to make dues paying easier by offering
a Lifetime membership option; to plan a fabulous reunion in 2018; to lock in the 2020 reunion location
which is Charleston, SC; and to start the discussion of options for our 2022 reunion. We recently updated
our By-Laws and I'd like to thank all of you that took the time to vote to approve them by an overwhelming
margin.
This is my last RAFINO Reporter as your Prez. It's been my honor to serve all of you; and to work with a
great board of officers. I encourage everyone to find a way to get involved with RAFINO. You can help us
find more new members by encouraging those you served with to join. I know Larry would love to hear
from you if you'd like to help publishing this RAFINO Reporter, to serve on our Nominating or Donations
Committees, or help on our Reunion Committee to help make future reunions a success. That's all from
me. See you in Albuquerque. Larry, we're in great hands with your leadership for the next two years.
Proud To Be Your Prez,
COL (Ret) Kevin Troller
