 Experience Builds Young Runners
Experience was a watchword for the younger cross
country runners. The disappointing 0-7 Frosh season did
not reflect the true potential demonstrated by the dedi
cated runners. The constant shift of players from the
modified level to the J.V. squad helped explain the Frosh
problems.
Peter Shepardson and Bill Deptula, were two run
ners whom Coach Kevin Conroy counted on to close the
gap in the final score. Both runners were responsible for
many respectable placings throughout the season.
The Middle School’s version of cross country met with
better success as they accumulated a 7-0 record in C Y O
competition. With the help of Jason Vianese and Jeff
Waltos, Paul Barnaba and Chris Lyons led the Broth
ers’ highly talented program.
“These are certainly the finest crop of young runners
I’ve ever coached,’’ remarked Coach Kevin Conroy. The
squad displayed a keen spirit of competition against St.
Rose and Holy Cross. The Brothers were also paced by
Our Lady of Solace and St. Margarets, as they coasted
into the top
seat in
C Y O
play. Coach
Conroy
sees a
bright future for the cross country program.
