How to Choose the Right Firearm
When selecting a firearm, it’s important to understand how you will be using this firearm. Purchasing a firearm is like buying a tool. Each is designed for one purpose. At least this is how I convinced my wife that I NEED so many guns. Yes, it is a NEED. Is your firearm going to be used for concealed carry, home defense or target shooting? Each category has special features that make them uniquely suited to complete each mission.
What to Look for
A concealed carry firearm should be thin, compact, lightweight, high-quality and come with a drop safety. A drop safety prevents the firearm from discharging if it slams on the ground. I’m sure you can understand why this is so important. Choose a firearm that feels good in your hand and one that you can operate safely. Avoid firearms that are large. These firearms tend to feel more comfortable in the hand. However, the increased weight and size makes them very uncomfortable to conceal 12 hours a day. Remember, if your goal is to carry this firearm every day, if it's not comfortable, you're going to leave it at home.
Choose a Reputable Company
I really can’t stress this one enough. If your goal is to carry a firearm for those moments when your life is on the line, wouldn’t you want a firearm that’s manufactured by a company with a solid history? Personally, I only carry firearms that are military and law enforcement quality. I know that if it’s built to handle the stresses of these two fields, it's a firearm I can trust my life to.
