Our season got off to an unusual start because our yacht club had been torn
down and the new building had not yet been completed. The racers and Race
Committee were all very flexible as we had to start our races from an alternative
location other than the PYC. It all worked out with much cooperation from
everyone. The club building was finally finished by the end of July and the Race
Committee finally got back on the deck to start the races in the usual fashion.
Eleven boats raced in the Championship Series this year. Kick n Back owned
by Larry and Chris Conroy could not be beaten and came in first place.
Shamrock owned by Mike Bass came in second and third place was earned by
Paul Slotesma on Joan!!!
Fleet 70 also held regular Wednesday night fun races throughout the season
starting in May and going through September. Most of our boats are pulled out
of the water by the middle of September because of the weather.
We held a Jack Patterson Race in the middle of the summer season. The Race
was held this year on Lake Michigan. The race was won by Shamrock with Mike
Bass at the helm.
The fall series only had three races because of weather conditions. Shamrock
came in first followed by Kick n Back and a new boat in our fleet, Sicilia, owned
by Pete Zangara and Mike Guercio.
During our Regatta Banquet on September 24, 2022, additional recognition was
given to Greg Green who was the recipient of the Joan Roseman Crew Award.
