Coastline Show Chorus
2023 has been a time of transition and hard work.
We've thoroughly enjoyed welcoming 6 new members in the past 7 months. Each of them already
contributes more than their fine voices.
In December, Gail Jencik announced her retirement from
directing our chorus, effective in March. At the end of her
term, we celebrated her tenure with performances by
CSC, Narragansett Bay Chorus, and many fond memories
of International top ten placements and conversely, "make
it work" moments. There were lots of familiar faces and
much laughter. We wish Gail well.
The fabulous Karen Rourke worked with the chorus twice
this spring. She suggested effective updates to our contest
songs. In April we had coaching with the magical Debra
Lynn. She gave us great tools and encouraged each one of
us!
On May 3rd we hosted Friends and Family night with
performances by CSC and some Region One competing
quartets. A good time was had by all.
Later in May, our Interim Director, Sam Steed, led us to a
fifth place Regional medal. We enjoyed our time on stage
and agreed with the judges' comments. We were missing
some key singers, as every chorus must, due to illness or
caring for a loved one. We very much enjoyed
performing at contest for the first time in 4 years,
especially at Symphony Hall!
