        Island Grove Chorus

Happy 2024 from Island Grove Chorus! After a pair of successful summer performances in our
hometown of Abington, Massachusetts, IGC convened in the fall to start work on our holiday
repertoire and preparing for a busy schedule of sing-outs for the months of November and
December. First off in November we performed at the Life Care Center of West Bridgewater, MA.
One of our longstanding members is now a resident there, and she and her neighbors came to see
us sing on a sunny Saturday afternoon. We performed a set list that included some new holiday
tunes we had been working on, as well as some old favorites; our former member even joined us to
sing our closing song, “Thank You Dear Lord for Music.”
In December we performed our holiday repertoire in several different venues. First up was a
Friday evening performance at Quincy Point Congregational Church at the opening night of their
annual Christmas fair. Afterwards several of our members went downstairs to the church
fellowship hall to check out the fair’s shopping offerings, and we even got some professional
photos taken. Next was a performance for the West Bridgewater Women’s Club, where we sang
holiday songs for a full house at their monthly lunch meeting.

Then came our big, annual holiday fundraising performance, hosted for the second year running in
Quincy Point Congregational Church’s beautifully decorated sanctuary. The performance was very
well attended; IGC’s family and friends came out despite the rainy, damp weather to join us for
some much-needed holiday cheer, and we welcomed several alumnae back onto the risers with us
for some of our favorite songs: “White Christmas,” “Go Tell It On The Mountain” and “We Wish
You a Merry Christmas.” We also held an afterglow with homemade refreshments in the
fellowship hall, and several of our members planned a successful holiday cash tree raffle that
brought in some much-needed extra funds.
