Merrimack Valley A Cappella

It’s 2024, and for MVA that means we’re laser focused on getting ready for Harmony Classic in Kansas
City this October, where we’ll be Contestant #3. Planning the package and fundraising have been off to a
good start for several months now (and will continue)! To catch up with everything, here’s a quick run-
down of some of our activities since the last Tags & Swipes in mid-2023.

In August we were very sad to learn that a former long-time member, Sarah Goldman, passed away in
Columbia, S.C., where she and her husband had relocated years ago. Sarah wore many hats, among them
section leader, team coordinator, mentor and recipient of the MVA Marge Bennett - In Her Footsteps
Award in 2007. We recorded a video of us singing “Let There Be Peace on Earth” that was shown at her
service and we shared many written remembrances from current and former members with Sarah’s
family.

In September we had the amazing opportunity to be coached by Britt-Helene Bonnedahl, retired Master
Director (700!) of Rönninge Show Chorus in Sweden, who was visiting the Boston area. Her energy and
enthusiasm were incredible, and we learned so much from her.

We were in the presence of greatness when Master Director Britt-Helene Bonnedahl
from Sweden coached us during a September rehearsal.
