Merrimack Valley A Cappella
Who said summer is a slow time of year?! Lots has been going on at Merrimack Valley A Cappella since the
last edition of Tags & Swipes.
Our co-directors, Sally Jeffery and Carol Smolenski, didn’t let a 4 am departure from Logan Airport get in their
way of thoroughly enjoying their time at IES in San Antonio. They were able to share that fabulous opportunity
with good friend and fellow director, Rhonda Williams from Royal River Chorus. Sally and Carol took different
classes and connected on a few others and MVA has benefitted ever since with new warmups and insights.
It’s always great to take advantage of summer outdoors, so why not combine socializing, water activities and
practicing music. Sally graciously offered her time, her lovely home and party boat, “Benny” so that small
groups could hold sectionals while motoring on her nearby pond. In addition, a few of us got together for some
pool time – but no formal singing – at lead Christine Rees’ lovely new backyard spot.
