                                    ’       —  ’        . We all know this, and
                yet we’ve never bothered to correct the misnomer. Rumor has it that
                the  delicious  cake  got  its  name  from  the  fact  that  the  layers  were
                originally  baked  in  pie  plates.  So  I’ve  taken  the  name  literally  and
                made a pie that’s also a cake—the name now fits, but you still get

                what you’ve come to know and love. Quite frankly, there’s something
                quite  decadent  about  combining  the  two,  a  cakelike  filling  and  a
                delicious tender crust.
