                            .  Once  we  got  there,  though,  all  eyes  turned  to  Italy.
                Because  once  it  starts  to  get  warm,  the  Germans  I  know  pack  up
                their socks and sandals and head south for some dolce vita. The trip
                meant I got to indulge in two of my favorite desserts: affogato, which

                is espresso poured over vanilla gelato, and tiramisu. This tart pays
                homage to my childhood fixation with sugar and coffee—with more
                than enough added chocolate to please anyone.
