However chic the cupcake is, don’t worry that all this will go to its head. It
can still be made at home, still be decorated with what you have on hand, and
still be crammed into a shirt box. Inside this book I share 135 recipes for
children and grown-ups, for every day and for special days. Most are for
cupcakes and frostings, but I have included muffin recipes, too, which are baked
in cupcake pans, though less sweet than cupcakes. They make great breakfasts
on the go. And I have included a chapter of ideas for cupcake party
presentations, such as a cupcake Christmas tree or wedding-style cake. Granted,
they will never make the Lego catalog, but you’d be surprised how much fun it

is to stack up cupcakes in attractive and whimsical ways.
Because I am often asked at book signings and cooking classes which are my
favorite recipes, I’ve decided to list some of the ones I love today (I may,
however, think of an entirely different group by tomorrow!): Red Velvet
Cupcakes with White Chocolate Peppermint Cream Cheese Frosting (page 36),

Warm Chocolate Cupcakes with Molten Centers (page 29), Fresh Pear and
Gingerbread Cupcakes (page 59), Coconut Snowballs (page 66), Orange
Marmalade Ricotta Cupcakes (page 70), White Russian Cupcakes (page 85),
Blueberry Yogurt Streusel Muffins (page 222), Sweet Potato Casserole Muffins
(page 250), and Green Chile and Corn Mini Muffins (page 238). My children
would say that their favorites are Butterfly Cupcakes with Pastel Frosting (page
