97), Jelly Doughnut Cupcakes (page 115), Milk Chocolate Rocky Road
Cupcakes (page 131), Banana Pudding Cupcakes, (page 147) and Tie-Dye
Cupcakes with Psychedelic Buttercream (page 155). And I haven’t mentioned
any holiday cupcakes, so here are a few I love: Kiss Me Cakes (page 179) and
Strawberry Rose Cakes (page 182) for Valentine’s; Easter Basket Cupcakes
(page 191); and the Stars and Stripes Cupcakes (page 197).
And because I am frequently asked where leftover cake from recipe testing
goes, I will tell you that of the 7,500 cupcakes and muffins that emerged from
my kitchen, some went to family and friends, some to a variety of local schools,
some to my husband’s office, and many to the Mobile Meals program for needy
seniors at St. Luke’s Community House in Nashville.
As in the other Cake Mix Doctor books, I have included a how-to section.
Cupcake 101 is a list of what to keep on hand in the Cupcake Pantry. As in the
other books, there are plenty of sidebars on decorating, baking ahead, planning
parties, you name it. And at the end of every recipe I have included at least one
additional tip so that you’ll be assured of success with each batch of cupcakes. I
hope that you enjoy this newest member of the family as much as I have enjoyed
working on it. I have grown to love cupcakes even more than I did when I was
young. Great things come in small packages, right?
