PEANUT BUTTER SURPRISES

               If your kids love the combination of chocolate and peanut butter, then they’ll
               love these peanut butter cupcakes with a chocolate Hershey’s Kiss baked inside.
               Topped with a smooth chocolate buttercream frosting, garnished with chopped
               Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, they make another wonderful surprise-filled dessert.




                     MAKES: 22 TO 24 CUPCAKES (2½ INCHES EACH)

                     PREPARATION TIME: 40 MINUTES

                     BAKING TIME: 18 TO 20 MINUTES

                     ASSEMBLY TIME: 10 MINUTES




               24 paper liners for cupcake pans (2½-inch size)
               24 Hershey’s Kisses

               1 package (18.25 ounces) plain yellow cake mix
               1⅓ cups water

               ⅓ cup smooth peanut butter
               ⅓ cup vegetable oil

               3 large eggs
               1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
               8 Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups (.75 ounce each; see “the Cupcake Doctor says”),
                    for garnish

               Chocolate Buttercream (page 319)



               1. Place a rack in the center of the oven and preheat the oven to 350°F. Line 24
               cupcake cups with paper liners. Set the pans aside. Unwrap 24 Hershey’s Kisses
               and set them aside.
