facing page.) Fold the fortunes in half, wrap each in a small piece of aluminum
foil, and set aside.

If you don’t have parchment paper, you can use ordinary white typing paper,
but you must seal it in aluminum foil before placing it in the cupcake. A
ballpoint is the best pen to use on parchment paper. Tell children to look for
the surprise inside (you don’t want them eating it).
To dress up a cupcake that needs little decoration, use stencils and
confectioners’ sugar. Many cake stencils have a small pattern in the center—
or one to the side—that is the same size as the top of a cupcake. Place this
over the cupcake, sift the confectioners’ sugar over the stencil, and carefully
lift the stencil.
