CUPCAKE PURSE

What can you create when you arrange seventeen cupcakes on a platter, then
frost and decorate them with M&M’s, Tootsie Rolls, and gold dragées? I bet you
didn’t think of a cupcake purse for your next girls-only party! But that’s exactly
what comes about if you place the cupcakes just so. For very young little girls,
omit the Tootsie Roll (faux leather) trim and the dragées, and opt for a gumdrop
clasp and a shower of pink sprinkles. This fun idea came from Melissa Grimes
of Knoxville’s Bearden High School, and food stylist Karen Tack took it to haute
couture. I especially thank her for sharing the Tootsie Roll–flattening trick—très
chic!
