>> DEMAND DETERMINANTS
Demand for sports Apparels is influenced by several variables, including consumer income, sports participation levels, consumer preferences,
and population demographics. Consumers’ disposable income determines the quality, quantity, and frequency of sporting goods purchases.
Growth in income enables consumers to demand more brand-name or licensed merchandise, which is typically high-margin. The sports
participation rate affects demand for sporting equipment, apparel, and footwear at the retail level. As the sports participation level rises, more
individuals require sports apparel, footwear, and other sporting products, which bolsters industry revenue.
Demand for backpacks is driven by per capita disposable income. Heightened income levels result in higher purchasing activity, as more
consumers can buy these items. Since some of the industry’s products are more discretionary than others, many consumers can hold off on
purchasing new bags and accessories such as camping packs.
