Broome High School


      Broome  High  School’s  boys’  and  girls’  track  teams
      excelled at the South Carolina AAA Track and Field
      State  Championships.  The  boy’s  team  won  a  silver
      medal, missing 1st place by a very narrow margin of
      five  points. The  4x100  relay  team  of  Keyshaun
      Shuler,  David  Miller,  Jaqun  Wilkins,  and  Keyvon
      Graham  captured  the  gold  medal  and  set  a  new
      school  record.  In  individual  events,  Jaqun  Wilkins
      won  gold  medals  in  both  the  long  jump  and  triple
      jump, finishing 4th in the 100 meter run.  Nicole Hall,
      on the girl’s team, won the silver medal, missing out
      on  the  gold  by  .03  seconds.  Evelyn  Taylor  finished
      8th  in  the  400  hurdles.  Other  placements  were
      Keyvon Graham: 3rd in the 100 meter run, 3rd in the
      400 meter run, and 4th in the 200 meter run; Daniel Hurren 2nd in the 800 meter run and
      8th in the 1600 meter run; and Jarius Jeter finished 4th in the long jump.


                                                          The  annual  Military  Cord  Ceremony  recognizes
                                                          students  that  are  joining  the  military  upon
                                                          graduation  from  high  school.  The  students  from
                                                          Broome  High  School  that  have  chosen  to  serve
                                                          their country are: Daniel Chadwick (US Army Natl
                                                          Guard),  Hope  Cox  (US  Air  Force),  Faith  Horton
                                                          (Marines), and Shane Sanford (US Air Force).









      Sally  Sprouse-Anderson,  a  Broome  High  School
      alumna and teacher, is "All In" for anything she has to
      do to help her students succeed. She strives to keep
      the social studies curriculum relevant and meaningful
      for  her  students.   In  addition  to  her  teaching
      responsibilities,  she  coaches  varsity  girls’  basketball
      and track.

                                                            Cary  Harris’  Honors  Physics  class,  at  Broome
                                                            High  School,  spent  the  day  at  BMW
                                                            Performance Driving School. Students learned
                                                            how to control a vehicle on a wet skid pad and
                                                            during  panic  braking.  While  riding  with  skilled
                                                            driving  instructor,  Derek  Leonard,  students
                                                            traveled  about  85  mph  in  a  M3  BMW
                                                            experiencing  how  to  maintain  control  of  an
                                                            accelerating  car  in  a  variety  of  conditions.  It
                                                            was  a  thrilling  way  for  students  to  experience
                                                            firsthand the laws of physics.
