Respirology Summary
SJHC: A portion of SJHC General Medicine and Geriatric beds are dedicated to Cardio./ Resp. patients, services include a
pulmonary function lab, which offers a wide range of tests: pulmonary function test, spirometry/ f low-volume loop, methacholine
challenge, exercise-induced asthma test, exercise testing on a bicycle or treadmill, arterial blood gases (blood test) and walk test to
measure oxygen level and heart rate.
SMH: The division of respirology offers specialized services that include: many subspecialty outpatient clinics, diagnostic services
including a pulmonary function laboratory and sleep disorder laboratory, a15-bed inpatient ward for patients with unique respiratory
problems for intensive investigation and medical care management. Equipped to treat respiratory problems as obstructive, restrictive,
infectious, inflammatory, malignant, occupational, sleep-disordered breathing, cystic fibrosis and more.
