Gastroenterology Summary
SJHC: No in-patient program.
SMH: Division of gastroenterology provides patient care, education and research on digestive and hepatobiliary disorders,
particularly gastrointestinal cancers, inflammatory bowel disease, nutrition and motility disorders such as gastroesophageal
reflux disease and irritable bowel syndrome. It consists of an inpatient clinical teaching unit, which contains 12 beds for
patients with complex digestive diseases, a therapeutic endoscopy unit, which contains 8 procedure rooms, and conducts over
14,000 procedures a year, and provides ambulatory care.
