Three Steps to a
Pain-Free Life
T he lifetime incidence of back pain is estimated to affect 60%-70% of the population. The
prevalence of pain progressively increases with age, reaching a peak between 55-64 years of age.
Why do so many people have back pain?
Much of the cause of back pain is poor posture. How we hold ourselves in the positions we do
most often. Sitting, standing, sleeping, and walking are the biggest risk factors for back pain.
For decades, postural alterations can remain benign until enough cumulative distortions and compressions
cross a threshold. Beyond this threshold is where the real damage – sometimes permanent – can occur to
the discs, nerves, and bones.
Pain drives people to seek relief.
At Advanced Wellness Chiropractic, I strive to help my patients achieve a pain free life that they
deserve through chiropractic, nutrition, and posture restoration for long term improvement. The
following are the three steps I use to help patients.
The first step is to get you out of pain. At Advanced Wellness Chiropractic, I use gentle yet
effective chiropractic adjustments to get maximum relief. Patient safety and comfort is always
priority.
The second step is to determine the level of unresolved inflammation. When there is an
injury, old or new, the body launches the necessary inflammatory response.
At some point that initial inflammatory response needs to turn off and resolve. The
resolution response requires hormones called resolvins. Without resolvins, it is difficult to
entirely turn off the inflammatory response.
Inflammation from injuries can smolder in the background for years, or even decades.
Determining your level of unresolved inflammation is necessary to recover from back
pain and feel well again.

The third step is to reduce the intensity of inflammation and promote tissue healing
with proper eating habits and reduce the risk of reinjury by improving posture
with specific exercises.
Our diet contributes to back pain presentation. Food activates
biochemical reactions in the body to either promote healing or
promote further inflammation. It is prudent to know which
foods and which combinations of food perform which action.
The body has the best chance at healing when we reduce
reinjury risk. Addressing postural faults to restore the spine
and pelvis to ideal positions while sitting, standing, sleeping,
bending, lifting, and walking reduces future injury to discs,
nerves, and bones.
Pain is an unnecessary distraction in life. It limits our experiences and
affects our relationships. With this three-step approach to addressing pain,
measurable recovery is possible.
I look forward to assisting you on your journey to a happier, healthier,
pain-free life with my approach to addressing aches and pains.
