eing in the jewellery industry for close to 20 years has given me a passion
for jewels and precious metals. Truly it is more than just a passion for the
beautiful gems and the lovely pieces I get to help create every day; it is
Bthe privilege of being part of a person’s special moments, the stories and
the sentiment each piece embodies. Whether your jewellery is a five dollar or a
million dollar piece, they are all jewels to me because they have brought a smile to
someone’s face and should be worn and treasured.
After many years of working for others, I had the opportunity to take over as
owner of the Gem Gallerie and haven’t looked back since. What a privilege to keep
a local shop going for another generation, so the Gem Gallerie story continues.
Word of mouth is vital in retail jewellery. In fact, when our store was broken
into months after I took ownership, word spread quickly that the “new kid on
the jewellery block” did right by their clients even in the face of massive loss/
obstacles. Taking care of my clients was the right thing to do, and little did I
know that act of grace would be talked about in many circles and would
build a new level of trust and respect for the store and myself in the local
community. Thank you one and all! Your words of kindness matter,
they make a difference, and they have helped us rebuild, so we can
continue making people smile one repair, one treasured gift, one
joyous engagement ring at a time.
As an appraiser, a gemologist, and now a business owner, I value
continued learning as a vital part of the journey to my personal
and business success. It is essential with technology ever evolving
to keep up with these changes through education, mentorship,
and networking. You never know who you are going to meet
along the way. Often times, you find wonderful diamonds in
the rough who can teach you a thing or two, and through those
relationships, open new doors to possibilities you may never
have imagined.
Be sure to protect your piece with a proper, current appraisal
so your treasured jewellery is documented for insurance,
estate settlement, and travel as well. Life’s moments are worth
celebrating and protecting and so is your jewellery because
it tells the story of that moment, that sentiment, and those
loved ones.
