Being Healthy & Fit Isn’t
a Fad or Trend…
It’s A Lifestyle
hen we get caught up in health and fitness trends or fads, it usually means we
throw ourselves into a new diet, set unrealistic goals at the gym, stress about our
weight or size, and spend less time truly focusing on becoming healthier. Each
W time we make a big push with drastic changes, we inevitably falter and end up
back where we started with even less motivation for the next round.
Instead, we should focus on how we feel and begin to think of our health and fitness as part of
our lifestyle. Rather than making sweeping changes to your diet or activity level that you cannot
maintain long term, find one or two smaller changes that you can incorporate into your sched-
ule or diet. Once these changes become a regular part of your week, add one or two more to
that foundation. Adding a new weekly fitness class to your schedule or packing a healthy
lunch for work may seem small at first, but these changes combine into large gains over time.
It’s no secret that getting started is the hardest part. Most of us struggle with taking that
first step when making changes in our lives. Stepping out of our comfort zone takes courage
and strength, which is all the more reason to do it carefully. Slowly incorporating change
into your routine turns it into a comfortable and natural part of your life.

To ensure long term fitness success, maintain a balanced healthy
workout, which includes strength, cardio, and flexibility. Doing activities
that incorporate all three of these components or combining activities
that ensure you focus equally throughout the week will greatly reduce injury
or burn out. Nothing reduces your progress more than an injury that affects your
ability to engage in physical activities.
A healthy diet is also essential to your overall wellbeing. However, extreme diets
and stressful meal planning are hard to maintain. Instead, find healthier alterna-
tives and slowly replace the unhealthy foods you currently eat.
While exercise and diet are important, making time for yourself is essential for
a healthy lifestyle. This could be as simple as having a bath, reading a book, or
enjoying a relaxing massage. Regularly disconnecting and taking care of yourself
will give you the strength and willpower to achieve the health and fitness goals
you set out for yourself.
If you’re ready to make health and fitness part of your lifestyle, True Touch
Massage Therapy & Fitness can help guide you through the process of getting
started and keep you motivated while you make changes to your lifestyle that last a
lifetime.
