Artful...
An Uncommon Art Affair
Artful…, a unique, uncommon art party hosted once a year
by Platform Art in Lakeland. The non-traditional gala-esque
4 7 T H A N N U A L event owes its distinct style to Platform Art’s mission to
L A K E W A L E S showcase and bring artists together since 2003 in creative
collaborations within the community.
“Platform commits to the cultural landscape of Polk County,”
says Cynthia Haffey, Executive Director, who dedicates
her time to identifying resources to commission public art
projects in the region. Public Art gifted by Platform within the
City of Lakeland includes the Orange Street Bridge Tiles; the
Platform Art Park and Community Garden; Sculptural Bike
Racks, by James Lasley and Kimberly Wyant; the Veteran’s
Sat. 10am-5pm • Sun. 10am-4pm Memorial Park sculpture series, Honor, Sacrifice and Duty,
designed by high school students and fabricated by Tom
Monaco; the Spirit of Entrepreneurship designed by Bump
Galletta for Dixieland Mall; and current public art projects in
• Quality artworks by fine artists & artisans development, Electric Lineman, a Becky Ault commission for
• Children's Fun Lakeland Electric on Lake Mirror; and BEE’s, an environmental

Linemen sculpture, a life-sized steel and bronze fabricated
sculpture, by nationally recognized artist, Becky Ault, to be
permanently installed at Lakeland Electric Co. on Lake Mirror.
Attend Platform Art events and learn more about the
upcoming Linemen project, which brings unique opportunities
for collaboration among artists, businesses, students, and
the community. A High School Public Art Sculpture Design
Competition will be held at the Platform Kids venue February
10th, 2018. Entries will be judged by representatives of
Lakeland Electric and award-winning artist-fabricator Becky
Ault, who will be working with students to cast the sculpture
of the students’ winning design for Linemen.
